Our Beers

Our head brewer, Cormac O’Dwyer believes that it takes quality ingredients, time, care and attention to detail to create the perfect brews and this is the methodology that he employs when brewing our Dungarvan beer.

All the beers are traditionally brewed and bottled, canned, kegged and casked on-site in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford made using only four ingredients – barley, hops, yeast and water.

No chemicals are added to the beers, they are unfiltered, unpasteurised and vegan-friendly.

Our beers are bottle conditioned and can conditioned, which means that a natural carbonation process occurs within the bottle or can which eliminates the need for the addition of further gas to the beers. This leaves a slight yeast residue in the bottle which is completely natural and fine to drink. Conditioning in the bottle or can means we have a naturally carbonated, unfiltered and unpasteurised beer that doesn’t need any further enhancers or additives to stabilise or improve them. Store it upright, and pour it in one go and you will pour a clear pint and leave the yeast stuck to the bottom of the bottle. This is purely for aesthetics, of course, and a little yeast in the glass will just make the beer less clear but perfectly fine to drink.

Our draught offering is cask ale, dispensed by traditional hand pumps, which we supply to select ale houses throughout Ireland as well as at a range of festivals and events during the year, and kegged beer which is widely available around Dungarvan.

All Dungarvan beers are vegan friendly as no isinglass is used in our brewing process (finings used are seaweed derivatives.)

Our core range consists of four beers – Black Rock Irish Stout, Copper Coast Irish Red Ale, Helvick Gold Blonde Ale, Mine Head American Pale Ale, Comeragh Challenger Gluten Free Pale Ale and Main Sail Alcohol Free Pale Ale – which are complemented with a selection of seasonal and small batch specials throughout the year.
